@James – I have a few more anecdotes about Contiki reps. They seem to have a really twisted sense of humour. When we were staying at “The Chateau” in French wine country, the reps gave us each a picnic basket and a map one day, and told us to go find “the top of the world.” It took us about 3 hours to get there, hiking through seriously rough terrain in thongs, lacking supplies, and in 40 degree heat. When we got back to the Chateau, the reps were all sitting around pissing themselves laughing at us.

I know this post is old, but I feel I need to share.
Since my contiki tour was mostly hotels (regret) I only once had contact with the contiki reps… but it was amazing.
It was the middle of Hopfkarten, they used their local savvy to buy me all sorts of exotic drinks and never asked for one in return, since I think it was their last night of the holiday season.
I had to navigate my way back to the hotel through whatever tiny village it was we were fucking up/living in, wasted and alone.
I want to escape life and be a Contiki rep.
