Conversations with my mother: part five

September 14th, 2009

Mum: You’re going to love Lior’s show. He is an amazing performer.

Me: Shhh I haven’t seen it yet. Don’t tell me what happens!

Mum: It’s a concert, you already know what happens. He plays guitar and sings.

Me: I said, don’t tell me.

Mum: Oh but you should make sure you cheer for the encore. He does something really cool, you’ll never guess what.

Me: He removes all his clothing and fellates himself on stage, then proposes to the sound guy.

Mum: No..

Me: He tells us all to look under our seats, and we each get a midget to take home, then they have fireworks and ice cream.

Mum: No, stop guessing, that was rhetorical. God, you’re so weird sometimes.

Since I already have 2 midgets to take home maybe I could take them, give them ice cream and swap…

I hope the encore lived up to expectations after that.

Your mother is pretty hip. The only ‘concert’ I can get my mother to see is the 5 a.m. break for ABC Radio. Macca On A Sunday Morning, live at the witless

My mother invites me to Rainbow Serpent and Earthcore.

In fact several times she has gone by herself.

I told my friends who were going to say hi to my mum for me… they thought I was kidding.

I got booted out of a Lior concert last year for not having ID on me (my wallet was stolen a short time before). So I rang up my Dad and we had a beer at the pub down the road instead. (THEY didn’t demand to see my ID.) While my friends got to meet Lior. They came out with autographed t-shirts. Saddest day of my life

@Gabfran – prove it! Pictures, please?

@Megan – actually, it did. He sang an entire song acapella in Hebrew and I nearly came.

@Helen – to put the situation into context for you, when Mum was leaving for the concert she said, “My sister gave me tickets to see some Israeli chap play the guitar. I think his name is Lee?”

@passerby – I don’t know who those artists are, but they sound pretty badass.

@ambrosemrosie – that is devastating, Lior was one of the most intimate and beautiful gigs I have ever been to.

Lior is a giant fag.

@Bort – we already had this conversation last week, remember? I love giant fags. And you are a giant fag.

@Annik – It’s all right, though, I’ve seen him a bunch of other times.

@Annik – It’s all right, though, I’ve seen him a bunch of other times. I remember the first time I saw him, he sang this Hebrew prayer for the people affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict. Sexiest. Prayer. Ever.

@Annik

Rainbow Serpent and Earthcore are massive 2-3 day electronic festivals (mainly psy trance).

I hope the encore lived up to expectations after that.
